This year I will bring the 8th edition of my Burning Man Wristbands to the Playa. The artwork will capture the essence of the transformative spirit of the Burn in a beautiful mandala. Help me make it happen!
For AfrikaBurn 2019 I asked the international Burner community to support me in the creation and production of the official AfrikaBurn wristband. Together we made it happen and instead of a plasticc wristband we now all have a beautiful memory on our wrist :)
This is my personal art project. I started creating wristbands for Burning Man in 2011. Ever since wristbands have become my canvas for an interpretation of the annual Burning Man theme.
The "Shrine of Lost Moments" was one of the 12 shrines around the Man's base in 2017. We created it as a place for rememberance and letting go, honouring the victims of a terrorist attack in Germany.
In 2016 I went to my AfrikaBurn as my first regional. For our legendary camp - The Opium Gentlemen's Club - I created the logo, a series of visuals and the website.
For AfrikaBurn 2019 I asked the international Burner community to support me in the creation and production of the official AfrikaBurn wristband. Together we made it and something beautiful and meaningful was created!
For the German Burn "Burning Bär" I created the website and the newsletter as part of the Com team. An a wristband of course ;)
I started going to Burns in 2010, when I went to my first Burning Man. And oh boy, was I blown away - the sense of community, the open mindset, the immense wealth of creativity and - most of all - the feeling that we see each other as for who we are. Not a role, not a job, but a human being. I found my home and till this day that's where my heart is.
Becoming a Burner was also a personal journey for me to find out how i can contribute, of what i can bring in.
And this was my idea: At Burning Man you don't get a wristband when you enter the gates. But i like wristbands and i think other people do too. So in 2011 I started to create wristbands for Burning Man. A lot of people liked the idea so it turned into my personal art project - The Burning Man Wristband Project. Through this project I became connected with a lot of different Burner groups and artists and i started to explore the regional Burns, like AfrikaBurn.
A lot of things happened since then and now I am an active part of the community, being involved in many art projects and doing design and communication work for Burns and related events.
